Default Concealed carry purse for the wife

    Hey Everyone,

My wife just got a Glock 26 yesterday for concealed carry and she would like to find a good quality concealed carry purse. She would like to be able to carry it across her body (strap on the left shoulder, purse on the right hip) Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

    Thanks!

A good basic ladies concealed carry purse is made by Triple K.
Available in black or tan for approx $55.
Check www.officerstore.com located in Coatesville, PA.

You can pay two to 6+ times the above amount for more esoteric purses.
    Google can be your friend here;
Corona Leathergoods offers several mid to high priced choices.

A great starting point for females that I recommend to my students is the website for the ShootingUSA TV program, www.shootingusa.com In particular there is a series of "Pro Tips" (free online videos) hosted by Julie Goloski.

Ms Goloski is a former member of the Army Marksmanship Unit and shoots competitively for Team Smith & Wesson.
Her "Pro Tips" videos cover everything from firearm choices to safe handling to basic practice drills and more ...
She offers a straightforward, plain language approach in the videos; they would be time well spent for any novice or intermediate shooter, male or female.

I suggest avoiding constructing your own concealment purse or similar for liability reasons, you would not wish for her to be accused of accidental or negligent discharge in a defensive situation because you chose to sew your own holster into a standard purse or used an existing interior purse pocket as a holster - unless she has a favorite purse that you have "converted" by a leather artist or holster maker, so as to remove yourself from the "liability loop".

    hope this helps ...

    Just thought I'd mention this...

She might want to re-think purse carry and try to come up with a comfortable and practical way to carry on her person. As mentioned in other threads, purses can be yanked off the body or can be forgotten somewhere and then her gun is gone.

But if not, BCI Instructor gave you and your wife some good advice

Ok, thanks! I'll check out these links and talk over Hired Goon's comments with my wife.

Can be? Isn't that the first thing a criminal does to a woman in an assault or robbery? In other words, I agree. Her first hint there is trouble will be when she notices that she doesn't have her purse anymore.

My wife purchased a Gelco handbag for carry. I was surprised at how little her S&W #60 weighs when in her handbag. They make several and one or so go accross the body like you indicated. They aren't cheap but the handbag is first quality for dress or casual.

Does anyone know anything about these purses from "Ladies Protection"? I like the fact that they utilize a "vertical carry" position rather than the standard "horizontal carry" position. Seems like it would be safer as the firearm would be pointed down rather than forwards or backwards.

My wife carries in a gun purse. It's a Coronado, I think! My wife is a business professional. 5'0" and 105 pounds. She just can't slap on a gun without it looking like a cinderblock on her hip! She wears very nice, and expensive, business suits.

We all agree it's better for her to carry it there, then not carry it right?

If used correctly, and upon walking into a zone of danger, she can grasp the pistol and keep walking. IF someone flys by her and rips and cuts the strap from around her shoulder, she would already have the gun in her hand.

Good point! Thanks for your input!
