Default Something I've noticed from watching police chases on TV

So, I've been watching these 'worlds most dangerous',' worlds most deadly' etc tv shows. I'm actually really amazed by some of these officers. I'm no pro, but according to number 3). (Do not let your finger enter the trigger guard unless and until you are in the very act of intentionally firing the weapon.) these officers are displaying poor gun safety. They clearly have their finger on the trigger... Thoughts?

A very small number of LEO's know gun safety. Most of them don't know much about guns at all. They are only required to have a working knowledge of firearms and firearm safety.

My thought is they are getting ready to shoot the bad guy.

Do you know if they are pointing/aiming their weapon at someone? What you see on TV is a very poor view of what is happening.

What's poor about an actual video of the actual event?

Is it the lighting, or the quality of the camera? It's usually better than the videos from the dashboard cameras the police use as evidence.

They don't show cops as glimmering beacons of light, installed by the Absolute Sovereign to enforce his Laws as they see fit, and to assert the Absolute Soverign's rule over the peasantry.

I was also thinking this. If they draw on a perp, they are preparing to shoot him.

the next time you are flying down the road behind a BG and all hopped up on adrenaline you let me know how that finger in the trigger gaurd goes.... i see it this way... they are pointing a gun at someone with the intention of hopefully making him or her comply... if not they know that whats on the other end of that barrel is in for a bad day... they have a hard job and i understnad that some may not be completely educated on some things but the vast majority deserve all the support we can give them as a communnity...

Remember this, those agencies who agree to be on those shows are probably getting paid. So they are probably not the best agencies in the land. There are cops who shoot at my range who are great shots, and probably know more about THEIR guns than anyone out there.
