Trigger Reset
I was checking the reset on my trigger this morning while dry firing. I'd shoot, hold the trigger back, and cock the hammer. After what feels like not even a quarter of an inch, it doesn't click, but if I pull back it will fire again... Is that a good trigger reset distance? And where is that click I've heard so much about? lol
The only time it clicks is when the trigger is allowed to go ALL the way forward.
BTW, this is for my Ruger P-95DC

Re: Trigger Reset
Trigger reset should be built into your gun. If you hold the trigger back after firing you'll have the cycle the slide to feel reset. Just cocking the hammer won't do it. Your disconnector has to reset.
Dry fire, hold trigger back, cycle slide and ease trigger forward. You'll feel the trigger reset. That's the distance you'll have to leave forward in order to make a fast second shot. It'll be natural in time.
Some guns have a half cock notch and will "click" twice when you cock the hammer. Others do not and will only "click" at full cock.

Re: Trigger Reset
Ok, I understand now. I heard the click, but it's still the same, less than a 1/4 of an inch... lol Hope that's good enough, I'd like to try competition shooting, because what little I did was really fun...
And yes, I was breathing during those rounds, but only twice... lol

Re: Trigger Reset
It'll work just fine.
Plenty of more important places to shave time than trigger reset. Like target to target transitions...... In the grand scheme of things, fast double taps don't make up that much time.
