Re: Glock 29-10mm vs. my current 40 S&W?????
Lots of bad info in here.
10mm is no more money than 45acp, and in some cases easier to find in the current mess we have going on. Also wasn't the 40 developed from the 10mm after the FBI testing of the 10mm was determined to be to much for the women and smaller men? 10mm lite is what it was referred to by most at one point I believe.Last edited by XD45; June 5th, 2009 at 05:39 AM.

Re: Glock 29-10mm vs. my current 40 S&W?????
RIGHT ON MAN ! .40s&w was a round developed after 10mm for the lower recoil and stoping power plus the 10mm was a little mutch for the FBI acadamy recruits because of the snappy recoil an difficult followup . 10mm is a awsome round as i have said before i own a glock 20 and love it + for you man

Re: Glock 29-10mm vs. my current 40 S&W?????
I find my G20 a fun gun to shoot with full power 10mm ammo. The recoil is not bad. Actually my G32 has snappier recoil & neither of the Glocks kick like a 4" .44mag wheelgun.
With 10mm,it gets expensive if you don't reload.
I would replace the stock recoil spring in a Glock if one intends on shooting full power ammo thru it. I use either a 22lb or 24lb spring in my G20,depending what ammo I'm using.
If the OP wants to carry a G29.....carry on.

Re: Glock 29-10mm vs. my current 40 S&W?????
10mm Auto is the .40S&W's parent cartridge.
Most factory-loaded 10mm ammunition is in the same power category as .40S&W. Doubletap, Buffalo Bore and a few other places sell full-power 10mm, which is closer in energy to .41 Magnum.
.357 Sig is NOT based on the .40S&W or 10mm; the 9x25 Dillon is based on 10mm. And the 9x25 Dillon makes .357 Sig look like .38 Special by comparison.
edit; wikipedia says .357 sig IS based on .40s&w, but the brass is longer overall and bottlenecked. so the case's base overall diameter is the same as .40S&W, but you can't make .357 sig brass from .40S&W brass.Last edited by General Geoff; June 5th, 2009 at 11:23 AM.
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.

Yes the .357sig is a .40 necked down to a 9mm round and is a fantastic defence round

Re: Glock 29-10mm vs. my current 40 S&W?????
I've had my 29 for about 3 months now and it is definitely fun to shoot. I am more accurate with it out further than with most of my 9mm pistols. The recoil is there, but not anything that really concerns me. I do not think its that much harder to shoot than .40s&w. If you're looking to carry it just make sure your round selection is appropriate. I've read that some of the hotter rounds are loaded with .40 bullets that aren't designed for 10mm full power velocities. If you can deal with buying your ammo at places that aren't called Walmart go have fun.

10mm=.400 so dependent on the price of 10mm brass reloading can't be cost too much more then the .40. Nothing on this thread convinced me of any reason not to have a 10mm. The price of the gun may be the factor?
