Whats the deal with Aluminum Blazer ammo?
I hear alot of people talking negatively about the Aluminum cased CCI/Blazer rounds. As well as alot, if not all ranges not allowing Aluminum or Steel cased ammo. I'm curious as to why people dont like the Aluminum cased Blazer rounds, and why so many ranges dont allow the steel and aluminum cased rounds?
I've shot over 12 of the 50 round boxes (approx. 600 rounds) of CCI/Blazer Aluminum cased 9mm rounds without any problems whatsoever. So i dont see what the problem is? And believe it or not, all my handguns, when the magazines are loaded with aluminum blazer rounds, feel a tad lighter in my hands versus the guns loaded with brass cased rounds. So i also dig that aspect as well.
Anyone else have any opinions of the Aluminum cased CCI/Blazer rounds?Last edited by WhiteShadow; June 5th, 2009 at 12:37 AM.

I've shot 9, 45, 357mag and 10mm in it and have never had a problem. I also agree you can feel a weight difference vs brass/nickle cased ammo too.

Re: Whats the deal with Aluminum Blazer ammo?
I believe the issue with ranges is that they just want to collect brass. They don't want to sort all of the spent casings just to pick out the aluminum ones.
The other issue is that you can't reload them, as previously mentioned.
But if you shoot privately and you don't reload, have at 'em! I've only shot a box of them, but I didn't have a problem. I can get Blazer Brass for $9.47 at the Wal-Mart two miles away. The Blazer Aluminum is $9.99 at the "local" gun shop 30 miles away.

I've used it with no issues. It is a little on the dirty side comaperd to the Amer. Eag. I usualy use but it's also $5 less a box. Beside I don't mind cleaning my gun.
But yes ranges don't want the steel or aluminum casings.

I've never had a problem with them and i've shot tons of that stuff. They are alittle dirtier thats about it as far as i'm concerned.

Think about it this way.. If that Blazer aluminum ammo was so dangerous, do you think CCI's insurance company and lawyers would let them make it?
There's nothing wrong with it. I've been using it since the mid '80s or so and not one problem.

This is why I don't like alluminum cases. These are all 9mm. Out of two boxes about half of them had split cases.

I've never had issues with it in my Ruger. My only issue is that where I live the brass cased Blazers cost about the same as the aluminum, so I get the brass ones in case I ever get around to reloading.

I thought CCI quit making aluminum case Blazer a while back, and now all Blazer ammo has brass cases.
