A2 buttstock; bolt with drain hole
Maybe someone here can answer this as I can't find it anywhere. I put a 1" extension on the buttstock and the longer new screw had no drain hole in it. Seems like if its a drain hole I should be okay to leave it as is without the hole. Anyone here have experience in this area?

Drain hole? Which screw are you talking about?
You sure don't want a clogged up drain on your AR!Kevin Singleton, Potawatomi - {ZRT - Sector 4}

If it works, Let it be. Unless You plan on wading ashore during an assault or crawling around the swamps of 'The Nam' I wouldn't think it would matter much.Recoil Happens

Re: A2 buttstock; bolt with drain hole
That's what I thought. I ask due to my luck. The way I figure it with my luck the damn thing will grenade on me during rapid fire if I don't ask. Being a drain and not a vent hole to me means it will be fine. I have yet to fire it though. Probably this weekend.
I asked over at ar-15.com and was completely ignored which tells me I'm a noob idiot.
And yes, It's the top screw on the rear of the stock that secures it to the receiver extension.

Re: A2 buttstock; bolt with drain hole
Nah, you should be just fine. Just as long as the action cycles. For instance I do know that a A2 screw in an A1 Butt stock will stop the bolt and carrier from cycling properly But it's easy to figure out why.
I'm assuming the Military mandates a Drain hole in the screw for the buffer tube, Since you replaced it with a Non-Mil-Spec part the company didn't see the need for the added expense to drill a hole in the screw.
One more thing, If it was a Vent Hole? Would you really want Hot gases venting into your shoulder?
Enjoy your time on the range.
