Went out last week while it was raining and shot some tracers out of my .22lr rifle. took a bunch of pictures and this is the only one that turned out. shooting at 100yrds looks like im shooting at 50yrds.

this one it looks like the trace material came out of the back and made 2 streaks through the air. glad i caught it on camera

That's cool. Where do you get .22 tracer ammo?

tracers just glow so you can see where they are going. Incendiary rounds burn hot and are used to cause things to ignite.

Not so. I have shot LP tanks with API, and they did not explode.

They did perform well on other things, though.

    who?

(i was the photographer and I'll try to get the video posted too)

That was a fun day Dave. Don't forget to remind everyone that we waited for a rainy day and remained responsible with the tracers.

There was another gentleman at the range that didn't leave until we were done shooting them. C'mon... who doesn't like tracers?

Tracers are like little road flares going down range and they will start a fire easily and quickly.

Be responsible so we can keep our sport alive.

Under the right conditions you might but an incendiary rounds are more likely to do the job.

They can only ignite things if the conditions are right for it but that is the reason they use them. They used them in WW2 in the planes for that reason. Here is a link to wikipedia that explains it.

Those incindiary rounds lit the Japanese planes up like tinder. They didn't have self sealing fuel tanks like the American planes did. Shoot the wing root on either side and you had yourself a Roman Candle.
