Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
Thanks, yeah, I called them last Monday. He said they had been running at a 3.5 month delay, and I should have mine any day now.
3/27 + 3.5 months = 2nd week of July...While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what advantage the Utah permit gives you? Does it give you more states to carry in or is it just the status of having the permit.Charlie - Ex-PA Resident

Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
It does give you more states, although I don't know the exact numbers.
The difference between Utah and Pennsylvania is that Utah requires some minimal training as a prerequisite, like a number of states do. The states the require training will not accept PA's LTCF, so adding Utah will allow you to carry in those states.
You need to research each one to certain, and to be safe, legally.
For me, my grandson (and his family) are in Delaware, and we visit regularly. Although DE is an Open Carry state much like PA, I need the Utah permit in the event I wish to conceal while there.
Delaware doesn't offer their conceal permit to out of state peoples like myself, but they will accept an out of state permit issued my another state (like Utah).
Not very confusing, is it?
If memory serves correctly, my PA LTCF and Utah permits will get me either 37 or 38 states total.

Thanks, maybe I will start looking to get the Utah permit. I do not usually go to Delaware but the less restricted the better. It is definitely confusing. I do like the idea of needing a class or two to carry.

Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
It is also worth getting because there is a lot of great information out there. I took the same class as Curmudgeon. Jason shared a lot of great information with the group (some of it not officially in the curriculum).
I got my Utah permit because I have a friend who lives in PA, but I have to drive in Delaware for about 2 miles to get to his house. While I can just put the gun in the front seat and wait until I get to his house, it is not a good idea.
Plus, if you travel a good chunk, it prevents a lot of hassles. If I would want to travel out to Indiana, I would not have to disarm in Ohio, I can now keep traversing through the state.
While this is all great, some of us are still holding out for that national carry bill....Active Citizen

Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
So what classes did everyone have to take to meet the requirements of the Utah permit? Also, do they require the fingerprints and photo ID. The one thing I do not like about the county hear is that the card does not have a photo ID on it.

Re: Got my Utah Concealed Carry Permit today!!!!
Here is the website linking to the Utah BCI and their section on CCW:
http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/CFnewapp.html
In addition, here is a list of out of state instructors:
http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/doc...tstate_056.pdf
I cannot speak for any instructors in Virginia, but maybe do some searching and you might find one who is close by and would be very informative.
Also, plan on spending some money for this. It is $65.25 for the permit plus the cost of the class. I do not know if there is a regulation on that cost, but plan on putting out somewhere around $80.00.
Also, if you ask nicely, the instructor might sign a letter showing that you have completed the Utah BCI curriculum and you can send it off to Florida to obtain a non-resident permit there as well.Active Citizen
