OC in Houston, PA
So as you guys know I currently reside in the south side of Pittsburgh, however I just bought a house in Houston. (Cheaper then Pittsburgh rent and my lease was up anyway). So the past couple weekends I have been going down there to give the house a little TLC because it deff. needs some. Anywho I have never OCed in houston (Washington County) before so I figured what the hell.
Walked down main street to the gas station to get some snacks: no issue.
Hardware store: no problem.
I made it a point to OC proudly in my own neighborhood and didn't get so much as an od look from any of the old couples sitting on their porch.
All in all I think this will work out nice.

Re: OC in Houston, PA
Where is there a hardware store in Houston? I grew up in the Cecil, Canonsburg area and I know Houston pretty well. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Bahr Hardware in still in Canonsburg and Carter Lumber is on the other end of Pike street past Meadowlands. Those are the only two that I know of. It's kind of surprising to me too that there would be OC horror stories in Wash Co. After all, Canonsburg used to be called Gun Town way back when.

A little off track here, but is the pronunciation of Houston
"hues-ton" or "house-ton"? Western Pennsylvania has a different way of pronouncing things sometimes (Versailles is "ver-sails", not "ver-sigh" the way the French pronounce it; Greenwich is "green-witch", not "grennitch" the way the British pronounce it; etc., etc.).

Re: OC in Houston, PA
its pronounced the same as Houston, Texas
Hue-ston
I had a buddy who used to own cafe bean in Washington tell me about a time he was pulled over with a cash deposit from the cafe and he was OC they cop asked why he was out so late and he had told them he was closing late because he had a band play that night. They asked him to step out and frisked him immediately had him in cuffs asking questions etc etc etc.
this is all hear-say but still makes me wonder.
