    Default 1911 in 9mm suggestions?

I'm interested in scooping up a 1911 clone. But i prefer 9mm, and i dont really like the .45 cartridge. Any suggestions?? Doesnt really matter if its a full size or compact version. I'm looking for something with impeccable reliability, something around or under the $800 range, and would prefer a high capacity magazine or at least the ability to use one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Para-Ordnance LDA versions. High Capacity and reliable. Dave_n

In that price range, i'd try to find a good condition used para P18. Should beable to get a new one for under $900 though.

Yeah, i was assuming Para Ordnance would be one of my best bets, if not the best.

Thanks for both those suggestions, i'm digging the P18's, but i'm REALLY digging the compact LDA models! Both are damn sexy pieces. Full size or compact, that IS the question. I'm gonna have to think about that one for a bit.

I've also been pondering the Springfield Armory 9mm 1911's, anyone have any feedback on those?

9mm's on a 1911 platform aren't noted for their relibility...

Kimber, Springfield, Para, and a couple others make them

Satisfy my own curiosity... why do you not like the 45ACP round?

    I have 3.

1- Springfield EMP: Great but out of the price range.

2- Springfield loaded: Picked it up New old stock off of gunbroker for 699$. (good luck on getting one that price) Took a couple hundred rounds to be reliable but its great now. Target model with a great trigger

3- Para P18. 100% reliable. Bought it from Rflynn and had PaPatriot do a trigger job and add an ambi safety. I love this gun.

For the money, look into the P18 the springfield loaded, and the Para LTC.

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).
