The item descriptions on the Brownell's site suck. Midway gets my money.

I just had my first and good experience with MidwayUSA, but it wasn't for a gun item. I had been wanting to get a Midland XT511 radio for a while. I waited too long for ordering it from Amazon because it appears to be EOL now and the prices have shot up to $90+ for it when it was selling for around $56. They're getting scarce out there.

In googling for it back on august 2nd, I found a company selling it for $44+S&H. I ordered it immediately only to get an email a day later that it was back ordered, even though their website said it was available. A couple of emails back and forth they tell me it'll ship Aug 23rd. That day came and went and it didn't ship.

Sent them an email on the 25th inquiring to when it would ship, which was promptly ignored. I called them today to inquire about it, and they had no date of shipment available. When I inquired as to why they show they have it available, but can't get it, I get a song and dance about their supplier changing dates on them. Umm yeah, I guess that's why during my initial question about when it would ship you asked me if I wanted to cancel the order. I suspect that they knew then they couldn't get them anymore even though their website was showing available.

So I got my refund and started looking around again. MidwayUSA had it listed "available" much the same way as the original site I ordered from, but not to be suckered into it again I called their CS line directly. I asked the nice girl if she could check to see if they had an items in stock and gave her the item number. She said "Well, it's available." I told her that I had just gone through this with another company saying something is available and I'd like to know if they can actually ship it. She said "we have 60 of them in the warehouse." Well, that in stock, not "available" per the other guy's definition of the term.

I ordered it over the phone right away, and it shipped out this afternoon with an expected delivery date of this friday via standard ground shipping. Over all a good experience.
