Re: MidwayUSA - great as usual
Found Hornady 44mag 300grn XTPs for $18&change in stock. picked up 2 boxes for my bear hunt this fall. As for service they are great. Placed an order the other night and when the confirmation page should have came up nothing did. I had no idea if it went through or not. didn't want to double charge my card if it did so I waited til morning and called. Can't remember the guys name but he assured me that it hadn't gone through and offered to rebuild the order. I was not at my puter at time and couldn't remember exactly what all i had ordered so I waited till I got to puter to re-order. I love the place. Yes you can pick things up cheaper at other places but you can rarely complain about the service from Midway.

lol..
Works fine out past 500-600+ yards too. You just have to learn to walk them in, and be patient for the chucks to come back out after getting spooked by the mysterious dust clouds that appear nearby.
Custom made 250-325gr slugs, some drilled out JHP's some custom made frangibles, going 2700-3000fps+. I dont like shooting the heavy slugs, they make my teeth hurt too much. Well, everything hurts too much with them to be truthful.

Do you shoot BP or low pressure smokless out of them? It seems that you would be doing a lot of cleaning during a groundhog session if you used BP.

31-40K PSI smokeless. I dont have a Sharps or other original/replica rifle that is only rated for BP or <28K pressures.

Re: MidwayUSA - great as usual
I will give Midway another thumbs up. I purchased a scope from them last week. It turned out to be defective. I returned it according to their directions and my new scope (a different more expensive model) was shipped out the same day they received it. I just called them because they charged me S&H on the new item (in addition to the price difference which I agreed to pay) which I thought was a bit bizarre since the original was defective and they credited me back the amount for shipping. I've never had a gripe with Midway.

H&R Buffalo Classic. Was 45-70, but a reamer fixed that shortcoming.
The SB2 platform is as strong as, if not slightly stronger than, the Marlin 1895 leverguns. Not quite as strong as the Ruger #1's. ...strong enough for Hubel to chamber one of his 12gauge from hell guns in.Last edited by knight0334; June 8th, 2009 at 01:30 PM.
