    Default Choke question

This will sound like I'm new to guns but, 2 questions.

How do I get the chokes out of this shotgun?

No. 2, I know they srcew in, how tight do I make them?

I never owned a shotgun with removable chokes. All of mine are 60's & early 70's guns or older. Don't want to mees up first time I do this.

BTW, no I won't ask for directions if I get lost..lol. Yeah, one of those guys.
I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.[

Your shotgun should have come with a choke tube wrench, if not buy one for it. Don't mess with the chokes without one. The chokes can corrode in place and be a bitch to remove, but once out, clean up the threads, apply a very light coat of oil (wipe off excess), and screw in which ever choke you need. They should be firmly tightened but not to tight. It's standard practice for "trap Shooters" to check the tighness of the choke before each shoot. Never shoot your shotgun without a choke tube in it.

2nd what Gunny said, but dont use Remoil on the Choke tubes if you are going to leave it in for long Remoil dries out fast if left in a dry area.

The anti-sieze creme they sell in Automotive stores work well and last for years and designed for high temperatures.

First, get a choke wrench. But, some Remington 12ga chocks can be removed with a quarter. Some, not all. They were made that way so the choke could be tightened in the field.

A choke should only be tight. Not locked down for bears. When the choke get hot while shooting they swell up and if it's to tight it may cause damage.

Did I say get a choke wrench?
