The military turns teens into adults and adults in to leaders.

    Go for it.

I wouldn't sign up just to get away from problems at home. Don't sign up just to escape.

I do not either, but I think it qualifies it

I've thought long and hard about signing up. I still do. I think people should sign up for a lot of reasons but the need to escape shouldn't be one of them. It's a major decision and shouldn't be one that you decide in one day, week, or even month.

    Just my opinion

edit: I'm glad I'm not disqualified

Well since I am in the guard and deployed if you have any questions feel free to ask. If you want you can ask here or PM me your email and I'll be as honest as I can about it all.

Have you taken the ASVAB test recently? That test is what dictates what MOS's you can get into. Ask about enlistment bonuses as I know they just changed and may have gone down. Also if you are looking at college make sure you get the GI Bill and student loan repayment program.

How far along is you wife? You can end up spending quite some time in basic and AIT depending on the MOS you pick.

Also realize that it is only 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer.(I'm calling BS) But you can always look for fulltime jobs in the guard once your in. Its basically like active duty but you are still at home working for the state.
