    Default Threading for suppressor

I need to find someone to thread 2 barrels for a can but I'm not quite comfortable letting just any gunsmith do it. The thought of a baffle strike on the first round just really bothers me. Does anyone have a recommendation for gunsmith that will do it right for a reasonable price? I have one that my Class III recommends but it is $95 per barrel, I could almost buy a new stripped ar barrel for that price

$95 for someone to do it right doesn't sound like too bad of a price. it costs less to buy a barrel that's already threaded because the threads can be cut when the barrel is being contoured. to take an existing barrel and thread it requires a bit of setup time on the lathe to make sure the threads are concentric with the bore.

i'd rather pay more now to get the barrel threaded properly than skimp on the threading and pay for a baffle strike later - or possibly a bullet through the side of the can.

Well I should have also said that I can send them across the country to any one of a handful of really great gunsmiths for at a max $50 each. Would just like to keep the business local

proper barrel threading for suppressor use is worth the cost...dont get an average thread job, gte someone who KNOWS about threading for suppressors

currently, I use one guy for barrel threading:
    Mark McWillis @ TROSusa.com
    http://www.trosusa.com

he threads barrels specifically to spec for suppressors, and hes a suppressor MFG himself

he centers the threads on the bore as is necessary to ensure no foulups, the bore rarely follows the barrel OD, so you can have some goofy stuff.

give him a mail, check his pricing.

another guy I know, does quality work, but i havent tried him out myself is Mike Stannard @ Tornado Technologies...he has done multiple things for folks I know, and his work is flawless...hes also a Mod at subguns.com and his work is very reasonably priced
