AR sight picture question?
Bare with me. I am not new to using these style of sights. I just wanted some input. I came to realization last night that i just started were I was and learned from there. I was shooting with someone that never shot with these style of sights and they looked at me and said ok now what? I struggled through that explaination.

Re: AR sight picture question?
OK.
What kind of input are you looking for?
I didn't care for the issue sights and, as well, they were not suitable for my purposes. One of the first things that I did with my AR was to change the rear sight. I put in a finer click adjustment and installed a National Match hooded rear with replaceable apertures. Much more precise. Easier to explain.

Re: AR sight picture question?
We need more info. What sights are they? Carry handle/standard A2 FSP, or a set of flip up sights? Does the rear sight have a small and large aperture? What exactly is your question about the sight picture?

Re: AR sight picture question?
oh sorry. To clarify. A2 standard sites. I was just looking for how to explain to someone who has never used them before. My issue was telling them how to know if the sights were aligned properly. It isnt as easy as the standard hunting riffle sigts to explain.

Re: AR sight picture question?
Ah, thats easy! Center the very top of the front sight blade in the exact middle of the rear aperature. Place where you want to hit on top of the front sight. Below shows two types of holds and a crude drawing of the sight picture.

A circle made with your thumb and forefinger and the index finger of your other hand can make halfway decent field expedient demo as well.
