MANNING, S.C. (AP) — A South Carolina restaurant employee has been arrested and accused of shooting a customer who complained about the service.
The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Yakeisha Ward of Manning is charged with assault and battery within intent to kill.
Deputies say Ward worked at a Waffle House restaurant in Manning and was involved in a fight about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
Lt. Tommy Burgess says the fight started when the customer complained about the quality of service in the crowded restaurant.
Burgess says Ward went to her van to get a gun. He says a 27-year-old woman was hit in the arm when Ward fired as those trying to break up the fight pointed the gun to the ground and a bullet ricocheted. The woman's name was not released.
It was unclear if Ward had an attorney.
And this is why you don't shoot into the ground or fire a warning shot.

You can understand part of the reason why I call "Waffle House" "Awful House"!
I mean, where else can you have a meal AND a fight at 4:30 in the morning? And someone ends up shot! Now that's service!

never a dull moment at a waffle house at 4:30 in the morning. (didn't Kid Rock fight at a waffle house about that time?)

Re: Restaurant worker shoots complaining customer in SC
There are alot of disgruntled employees out there , cuz they are stressed out by working harder to compete to keep their jobs and the worries of losing their jobs can cause quite a stir.

What I don't understand is the charge, "...with intent to kill".
Are they saying that the ricochet was an intended shot to bounce the bullet and was she using mirrors, too?
Or am I missing something? I would think intent would require her to point it at someone directly. This seems like a warning shot, though a stupid and reckless idea, not intent to kill.It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch
