Default Flying to Florida / Florida Law Question

I'm planning on traveling for work to Florida in a couple of weeks. I've already looked up the airline and TSA rules (declared handgun unloaded in locked, hardsided case, max 11 round of ammunition in factory case), but I have a question about Florida.

I've read that one can't carry

any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which
    portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose;
If the hotel that I'm staying in has a bar, I assume that the rest of the hotel is legal.

How does it work for restaurants that have attached bars, if I'm in the sit-down portion of the restaurant

Any other comments on flying to Florida would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I was told if it's a place that sells alcohol first and has some food then it's off limits. If it's a restaurant that sells alcohol then it's legal, food is the first priority. If the restaurant has a bar area stay clear of it, unless the smoking area is around the bar (can you say grey area?). Your hotel "lounge" follows the rules above. Was I informed correctly?

    Yep, you were informed correctly.

stay away from the bar area. stay away from bars/clubs. OK in restaurants that serve, but not in designated areas that the sole purpose is to serve alcohol.

I'm heading that way in a couple weeks myself.

I was just researching the airline and TSA rules for checked firearms. It'll be the first time I have to declare a firearm.

I was just looking to get a lockable case for pistol and ammo. Pelican 1120 looks like it'll fit my Kahr and a 20 round box of ammo just right.

Any other suggestions on lockable cases?

    thanks, 27hand

I'm planning on using the case that my XD-SC came in.

My Kahr case doesn't have any way to lock it. Glock cases have a hole I guess you could lock in some manner.

What type of container do you use for ammo?

The pelican case can contain everything but I have to choose what size to get.
