    Default Are we really free?

With the latest news on the smoking ban in p.a. as well as so many other states,to fighting for our gun rights everyday and biting our nails to see who will be the next president so we can maintain our 2ND amendment rights to keep and bare arms, one has to seriously wonder is this the land of the free really? The truth is America is on a path that I'm not to fond of.What are your thoughts on America? From smoking bans to firearm bans to the economy,Will America ever be what it once was or is that just a twisted dream never to be manifested?

Personally, I'm terrified of the path that this country is heading down. The smoking ban hit me hard, as silly as it may sound. The combined with all the election publicity is driving me batty.

If people as a whole don't start standing up, in a fashion short of an organized revolt (maybe not that severe), i don't see things changing. Ironically I'm reading 1984 right now and maybe that's making me more paranoid, but I doubt it.

The only other thing we can hope for is for our political system to continue eating itself alive, with more and more educated citizens realizing that third parties and "alternative views" outside of the norm may not be that bad. Eventually the shift may happen.

We're free enough to muck up one of the - if not the - greatest nations in the history of the world. That's pretty free.

problem is , people who don,t smoke celebrate when when they ban smoking . people who don,t shoot celebrate when they ban guns and on and on . everyone just wants what they want and could care less how it affects others.
I remember a time when neighbors would stand up for each other even if it didn,t affect them . don,t see that much anymore
Don't blame me ; I voted for an American .

not all of us. i actually know a number of non-smokers who oppose the ban because they understand it is yet another infringement of private property rights.

I'm a non smoker & I think the law went a little too far. Even a cigar bar or smoke shop has to apply for an exemption. That's stupid. If one goes into such an establishment one would expect smoke.

I understand the reason for such a law. 2nd hand smoke is harmful. But they took it too far.
