Question,Adams Co Sheriff race?
Anyone got the low down on the candidates? Redding the challenger and Muller the current sheriff. How about the incumbent? Has he been gunowner friendly? Anyone got the low down on their true beliefs ?

Re: Question,Adams Co Sheriff race?
Redding believes that the Sheriff's department should be serving warrants and not doing traffic stops.
Redding thinks a drug dog (K9 unit) is pointless when the Sheriff's Department can't do drug investigations.
Muller's Campaign Manager is Leonard Supenski, former Baltimore County Police Colonel, and appears to be quite anti-gun.

On February 27, 1990, Col. Leonard Supenski of the Baltimore County Police testified before the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee in favor of a "prohibition on the manufacture, commercial sale and private possession of assault-styled weapons by anyone except law enforcement and military personnel -- period. We also seek a ban on magazines of over 15 rounds capacity" (his emphasis according to his written testimony).
Yet a little over a month earlier, January 8, 1990, Col. Supenski testified as an expert witness in a case brought by Marylanders Against Handgun Abuse in their efforts to overturn the state Handgun Roster Board's approval of nearly all FIE-manufactured handguns as suitable for "legitimate sporting activities, self-protection, or law enforcement."
Supenski stated that his objection to a particular .38 caliber revolver was based upon the need to remove the cylinder to reload the firearm:
[It is difficult] to rapidly reload this weapon.... You've got six shots and that is it. . . . The homeowner always has to contemplate the possibility of reloading, and one of the reasons for that is the law requires you to retreat. Retreat to the point in your home where you no longer can retreat, and then you can stand your ground.
Eighty percent of those [knock and rob entries of occupied homes] involve more than [one] individual. So the possibility of needing to reload rapidly and quickly is always present.
FIE's attorney suggested during cross-examination that if reloading was so essential, "the best weapon to have would be an assault rifle with a 30-round magazine." Not wanting to be on record as justifying the ownership of AK-47's, Supenski replied that "no, the best weapon to have if you must have a weapon, is a shotgun."
The man officially in charge of crime prevention in Baltimore County, after discussing how you or I must be prepared to face a gang of hoods bursting into our living rooms at any moment, seems to think that private firearms ownership is an "if you must" option--nice to have but not a necessity.
Baltimore County residents now know that their police administrators believe six shots is too few and 15 shots is too many for civilians to have available to protect their loved ones. But when the police are allowed to choose their own guns, magazine capacity is a big selling point. "More" almost always equals "better."Last edited by djturnz; May 10th, 2009 at 09:49 AM.

The melodrama of crime stories come-to-life has furnished an irresistible lime-light that even people who know better cannot seem to resist stepping into. Colonel Leonard Supenski of the Baltimore County Police Department, for example, knew exactly how to market his appeal for the enactment of an assault weapons ban a few years ago. He told reporters: "We're tired of passing out flags to the widows of [Baltimore] officers killed by drug dealers with Uzis." [19] The FBI, however, reports that only one officer has ever been killed with an Uzi and that was in Puerto Rico, not Baltimore. Less than 1.5% of police officers killed in the 1980s were killed with any "assault-type [Page 254] weapon." [20] Chicago police department statistics have consistently shown rifles and shotguns of all kinds (not just "assault weapons") involved in less than 3% of the city's murders. Col. Leonard Supenski is the Chief of the Technical Bureau of the
Baltimore County Police Department. He is a gun owner and has competed
with firearms as sport. He conducts training courses for police and
citizens interested in self defense, He testified that he is familiar
with the term "assault weapon" and opined that these armies could move
more effectively. He stated that the Kalishnikov, AK-47, originally
made in the U.S.S.R. in 1947 by Kalishnikov, was the precursor of all
the military-style weapons on the list. His opinion was that there was
not legitimate civilian use for these weapons, and that in a compressed
urbanized society, they constituted a hazard to bystanders.
Col. Supenski testified about the report and recommendations of the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms ("BATF") (Defendants' Ex 12)
and provided the information contrary to Professor Kleck's testimony.
He felt that the ordinarily intelligent citizen could access documents
necessary to sufficiently warn that citizen of which weapons were
banned. He mentioned SHOOTING DIGEST and GUNWORLD. The plaintiffs later
offered into evidence, the manual published by the State of California
to assist citizens in recognizing their banned firearms. (Plaintiffs's
Ex. 67).
He testified concerning the BATF's tracing of firearms seized by law
enforcement, and indicated that the Intratec TEC 9 was the leading gun
seized, and the combination of the Tec 9, the Cobra MAC-11, the AK-47,
and the Colt AR-15 comprised thirty-seven (37%) percent of all assault
weapons seized, Among characterizations of individuals from whom such
weapons were seized were drug dealers, disturbed individuals, street
gangs, and hate groups. He reiterated Chief Sweeny that most of these
weapons are purchased legally and then come onto a secondary market of
unregulated sales by straw purchasers selling to criminals. He insisted
that these weapons were a serious risk to police officers and the
public safety.
On cross examination, he conceded that a semi-automatic rifle or
handgun could be used defensively. He added that the use would require
considerable training. He conceded some discrepancies from his
deposition testimony.Adams County Sport Handgunners Association - President

Here is
Mike's website and bio.
http://www.electredding.com/
Mike was recently endorsed by the Harrisburg Fraternal Order of Police

It seem strange that they wouldn't back the incumbant. This must be a great honor for Mike.
Jim's website is
www.electmuller.com
(having no bearing on the election or his qualifications, I find it funny that his webmaster used a Deputy badge for the top graphic on his website. I would have at least photoshopped that out.)
Jim doesn't list any specific endorsements except the letter to the editor that have been written for him.Adams County Sport Handgunners Association - President

Mike Redding also has the support of the Local Lodge 41 of the Fraternal Order of Police, which represents over 700 current and retired State Troopers.
This is a big deal that they would back him and not the incumbant.
