Default Doylestown PA has an ordinance against Open Carry?

My dad just joined a gun club in Doylestown, and they told him you can't open carry on the premises because of a local ordinance against open carry. Has anyone else heard about this? Such an ordinance would violate PA state law…

Sounds like BS to me. What club? Who are "they"? I am looking at the General Code for the Township of Doylestown online right now. So far, I see no ordinance about open carry, only the discharge of firearms...

I don't know the name of the club; I'll ask him tomorrow. Maybe it was a township within Doylestown?

Maybe it's just a club rule??

    Ah, maybe this is it...

Chapter 119: PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS
    Article 1: Conduct In Parks

    119-9: Firearms; Hunting; Fireworks

    A. Other than an officer of the law, no person shall carry or discharge a firearm, rifle or other weapon within the park system.

I believe this is a preemption violation.

The guy at the club (I think one of the people in charge?) told my dad it's only a club rule because it's a local ordinance or something. My dad told me he didn't feel like discussing it with the man. I was just curious if anyone here has heard such a thing.

    Only one of two possibilities

    1) Pre emption violation

    OR

    2) Club policy on private property . ( Which they are well within their rights to enact ). If thats the case , one could argue that blaming it on " a local ordinance " provides cover for the Club from members accusing them of not being full 2A Supporters .

Is this a "GUN CLUB" run by the Brady Campaign???

I would love to go in there armed with documentation, found out what's really going on.

Even if there is a rule it's null and void because PA has complete preemtion. The locality cannot regulate carry...someone local needs to have it removed.

Both the township and borough have that prohibition listed in their ecodes for carrying in parks.

    This is the borough. (see page 10, §206) Updated 12 - 15 - 2008

The 2A does not GIVE us the right. It tells the gov they can not INFRINGE our right.
