    With the BLM and other extreme leftists targeting badge wearers - it probably isn't a good idea.

    And the last thing you want to have in your hands when the real police show up is something black or something shiny.

    Besides, even our State Police don't wear badges.

    You're right, this is how people get shot. He wants to use the badge as a communication tool, to send the message "I'm an official", so they will then conclude that he's not a threat. He's complicating the situation by reaching for and flashing a badge, instead of focusing on the most important indications of not being a threat - dropping the gun, showing empty hands, and not moving. THAT'S what an understandably amped-up officer needs to see.

    So yeah, now that I think about it, this whack-a-doodle plan is putting himself MORE at risk.

    Yes, but if you layer enough badges on your back, you can withstand multiple .308 round impacts as you work your way to your tactical wheelbarrow....
