The original is said by:
--Gold Hat, as played by Alfonso Bedoya from the Bogart movie: "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948).
"Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges.I don't have to show you any stinking badges!"
Here's a vid clip:
And the Blazing Saddles clip
I like the original best, but it's always good to see a reference pop up, like this one also from the movie "UHF".Last edited by HiredGoon; May 6th, 2009 at 03:35 PM.

Re: Conceal Carry Badge - Legal?
i would think a cell phone would do you far better than that badge.
"Hello, police? I am at (location here), my name is (name here), and I am (action here) a (badguy here) who (crime here) and is (badguy description here. I have a License to Carry Firearms, and am (self description here). I will stay on the phone with you until officers can arrive on scene."
that will show who is the good guy and who isn't far better than a badge that may or may not be seen in the heat of the moment, and will probably not have the LEO's on scene making fun of you for the rest of their careers. The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

Re: Conceal Carry Badge - Legal?
I love how the seller lists them as specific to a firearm, I am sure that has nothing to do with the fact that they are popular firearms and would come up when those guns were searched for

Re: Conceal Carry Badge - Legal?
If you're that worried about this....
Imagine Police arriving at the scene of your encounter and your attacker shouting, “he has a gun” :Shoot Him”. The officer sees you with a gun in hand and is trained to respond instantly to the threat that presents itself. You instinctively turn to the officer and tell him you are a legally licensed gun owner. It takes only a split second and the officer does what he has been trained to do, he fires. Dead men tell no tales. You're threatened with deadly force, but your gun is out and pointed at the felon. You have your Concealed Handgun Permit Badge with you. The police pull up to the scene and the dirtbag shouts, "He's going to kill me. SHOOT HIM!" WHAT DO YOU DO? You display your BADGE to the police and shout, "DON'T SHOOT. I'M A LEGALLY LICENSED HAND GUN OWNER."

Opinions being what they are , I'll toss mine in . I think the propensity ( deservedly so mind you ) to enjoy ridiculing the " Mall Ninja " , has become such an ingrained instinct that its a knee jerk reaction to flat out reject the possible utility of a CCW Badge . And I said pretty much exactly what Im about to say again ; the last time this topic came up , when I first joined .
Calling 9-11 and ID'ing yourself ? All well and good ( even though we have at least one well respected and hyper knowledgable attorney here that specializes in such cases saying its NOT always the best idea) .
What if you CANT dial 9-11 ? No signal / lost phone / broke phone / you yourself are injured ? But perhaps still holding the suspect (s) at gun point .
What if its a dynamic situation ??
There are way to many possible situations and parameters that one may find themselves in to merely "throw the baby out with the bathwater " with regard to CCW Badges .
Are you saying your really prepared to trust your life to the first responding Officers to NOT be hyper keyed up ? To trust that the 9-11 operator actually relayed the relevent information to responding units? We saw how well that worked out in Pittsburgh .
Im reasonably certain that a first on the scene LEO , performing a rapid threat assesment , is going to take an extra second or two if he sees a badge on someone holding a gun . Think about it , how many stories have we read right on these pages about public encounters while OCing , when legit LEO's first presumption is " your on the job " ?? Having that badge displayed in the aftermath of a justified shooting may just help slow things down enough that you dont accidently wind up laying next to the real BG .
Adding a CCW Badge to that equation WHEN and WHERE appropriate can only further re enforce that initial perception , and that may mean the difference between walking away or being carried away .
Something tells me a responding LEO engaging a "person with a gun " , who then turns out to be the intial victim , is going to be free and clear for his/her mistake . As a reasonable person might presume on arrival the armed person is in fact the BG .
Again , Im not in any way suggesting anything other then the propensity to ridicule mall ninja's AND wannabe's may inadvertantly result in discarding or even talking about something due to its " association "
