    Default Neg rep and sigs

Why can't I post someone's neg rep in my sig? Petty and personal it may be, but so is the neg rep, so it's a wash.

The way I see it is that if you don't want your own words posted publicly, don't send the neg rep in the first place. It's already been established that neg rep is not a subject for infractions by PAFOA staff-- is PAFOA staff further saying that personal attacks in neg rep are not to be publicly divulged by the "repee"?

Simply put-- is the negative repper who engages in personal attacks to be protected by staff from all consequences, even just making their own words public?

It doesn't say you can't in the posted rules.

So......while it may be tacky, it's not against the posted rules.

How dare you accuse me of being tacky! Obviously you didn't see the suit I wore today.

Btw, I was gonna make an edit anyways-- I didn't post this to be critical of whomever edited my sig (as I don't know their reasoning), but I do object and would like official clarification on the subject.

You can't do it because staff agreed you shouldn't as it violates the "General Rules"

    That's the simple answer.

I agree, but that is not the issue.

As with most things it's probably much more productive to notify staff. Not further the bickering in public... Which is the reason the sigs are not tolerated.

It has nothing to do with protecting anyone. It has to do with making a public issue out of a private one. An issue that goes against the friendly atmosphere that is encouraged on the forums.

If you have a problem with someone using the rep system *abusively*, as in threats, or serious rules violations, please notify staff. Posting the rep, and particularly making it your sig is nothing more than further instigation in response to same and is going to result in nothing other than more fights and more work for the staff.

Actually, I think the new one suits you to a "T".

Except I'd prefer this not to turn into a "snitch-fest". One of the main reasons I like the rep system is it gives me the opportunity to give rep to those whom I disagree with but who have articulated their positions intelligently and respectfully. The member in question uses the rep system to (presumably) reward ideological orthodoxy (from his perspective) and punish ideological heterodoxy. Bad enough he does that but he includes personal insults. Now the insults don't bother me so much as I think they are hilarious, so hilarious that I feel inclined to share them with the entire forum, which has the incidental effect of holding him publicly accountable for the little turds he drops using the rep system, which would otherwise be his dirty little secret.

Bottom line-- I don't want the moderators and staff involved in whatever personal beef the guy who keeps neg repping me has with me. All I want is the freedom to post neg rep verbatim (as much as my sig limits will allow) in my sig line. That's it. I don't want him disciplined or banned-- I just want his words made public. If the admin chooses to deny this request, I will respect their prerogative to do so, but I do want to state my case on it.

Neg (and positive) rep IS personal, as far as I understand it. I can't read yours, you can't read mine. Pretty much the same protocal as posting a personal email or PM, IMHO.

Unless I'm missing something and can't read rep...I'd like to, the voyeur in me is kinda into that....

Its been my experience that " I want , I want " is not to well received by a "benevolent dictator" and his staff , such as we have here . Its usually much more productive to humbly profligate ones self while asking in an Oliver Twist type of way " thank you sir , may I have another " ?? Just sayin ............
