Those are nice and I appreciate the talent (that I don't have) that it takes to create them, but to see them on many sigs and many times the same one from users who don't rotate 'em just seems to me to be "clutter" that I don't need, IMHO.

It's nice to have the "off" option.

BTW, I do keep "view avatars" turned on though as I do find them to be clutter

LOL not quite ( better ) . Actually I had no idea that was Shania Twain , who is certainly quite easy on the eyes .

But my wife does have the brunette hair , a close to the same shirt , and a very similar pair of boots , 'cept hers are over the knee high .

I'll have to hunt around for some pics . We dont really have that many , for some odd reason it just never really happens . Plus this is a new laptop , the bulk of the pics we do have are stuck on my tower , which recently blew the mother board and power supply .

Why can't I post someone's neg rep in my sig? Petty and personal it may be, but so is the neg rep, so it's a wash.

The way I see it is that if you don't want your own words posted publicly, don't send the neg rep in the first place. It's already been established that neg rep is not a subject for infractions by PAFOA staff-- is PAFOA staff further saying that personal attacks in neg rep are not to be publicly divulged by the "repee"?

Simply put-- is the negative repper who engages in personal attacks to be protected by staff from all consequences, even just making their own words public?

If you have the balls and reason to say it in private you should have the balls to stand behind it in public. If you don't mean it, don't say it.

This discussion came up while I was talking to my GF about walking around with a digital audio recorder. She claimed that she would censor herself if she knew I had one and thus did not want it. I offered that if she wasn't willing to stand behind her words, even in a public or unknown setting, that maybe she should rethink what she says and how she represents herself all the time. I realize that I may be called to account for whatever I say, to whoever I say it to at some time.

It has nothing to do with protecting anyone. It has to do with making a public issue out of a private one. An issue that goes against the friendly atmosphere that is encouraged on the forums.

I would argue that there is no reasonable expectation of confidentiality, esp. because you are putting your feelings in writing. Maybe if everyone knew that their back channel comments might become known to the public they would treat each other with respect rather than harass or worse through PM/rep. This was my initial problem in the thread cited earlier, and you are most certainly protecting the people who would rather, like cowards, harass people back channel with coments which, had they been posted in a thread, would result in bans and points.

I actually think you posting the neg rep comments in your sig line is fantastic / hilarious. It shows some peoples true colors.

Personally, I'd love to see all the rep, exactly as I see mine. If I hover over the rep button on a post, I'd be interested in seeing what rep has been given, positive or negative.

But like Mick told me, I can't always get what I want. But I find that I get what I need.

FWIW, I often post when I've been negative repped, warned, or infracted (still waiting). However I don't always post the content. I find it helps people in the end because they can see the post and decide for themselves if the third person was justified in slamming down the fury of negative rep.

Not that it's any of their business either, but I enjoy it. Do what you want with your own rep.



Oh, and just like email remember that anytime you send a message to someone you are also losing some control of that content. That person has the ability to forward it to all their friends, shout it from the rooftop, or get it tattooed on their ass and show it to your mom. So if you wouldn't want everyone knowing your opinion don't send it.....
