Fort Dix Plot Has Poconos Tie

The Associated Press reports six men described as "Islamic radicals" are accused in a plot to attack Fort Dix.

A federal prosecutor's spokesman said the group aimed to "kill as many soldiers as possible."

According to the complaint, four of the suspects were born in the former Yugoslavia, one in Jordan and one in Turkey.

A law enforcement official said the men were arrested Monday trying to buy automatic weapons. The sale was set up by authorities who had been investigating the men for more than a year.

Court papers indicate the men did some planning and some training for their terror plot in the Gouldsboro area just weeks ago.


Investigators said the six suspects spent time at this house near Big Bass Lake community and trained nearby in state game lands.


Authorities said beginning February first one member of the group rented a home at the Big Bass Lake gated community 2717 Eagles View Drive in Covington Township, Lackawanna County. That is roughly 130 miles from Fort Dix.

On February 2 authorities said they videotaped the defendants involved in firearms training in the state game lands near Tobyhanna Army Depot. The game lands are in the Brady's Lake area of Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.

Court papers said the suspects used several semi-automatic rifles, a shotgun and a Beretta handgun during the training.

During one conversation, months before the Pocono trip, prosecutors said suspect Mohammed Shnewer told the alleged conspirators "there is a nice place we can train in Pennsylvania. It's two hours from here."

It's also alleged that during their February stay in the Poconos the suspects discussed which targets they wanted to hit and what kinds of explosives they wanted to use.

It appears the suspects only stayed in the Gouldsboro area rental house for the first few days of February.

How did they know there was a range so close to the house?
These guys were pizza delivery guy, a cab driver,and three illegal alien roofers.
It doesn't seem to me they would be smart enough to look for a rental in east Pa,
near a shooting range that is at its least used time of year(Feb.).
I bet they had a friend who mved to the poconos from Jersy/new york and set them up with a training, get away, male bonding week end.
This is not what the shooting community needs in Pa.

Would you care to look at things honestly? For every one cell that is caught and shut down/prosecuted there are probably at least three or four others run by persons with a little more mental capacity. If you think that they are not in country, you aren't as aware as you think you are.

OK, then why aren't we hearing anything in the news about shutting down those? Do you mean to say that Homeland Security can shut down cells of morons, but not cells of actual intelligent human beings? If so, we're equally safe without them, since they're doing nothing about the REAL threats.

If you think that they are not in country, you aren't as aware as you think you are.

I imagine "they" might well be in the country, but I'm also confident that Homeland Security is useless as protection against them. The fact that they make a media circus about capturing mental defectives, and never demonstrate having caught a human with his cranium OUTSIDE his anus, reinforces that.

So the heimatsicherheitsdienst is apparently good for two things: reducing the freedom of American citizens; and arresting mentally defective non-threats with their heads up their own tailpipes.

All of these busts are always half wit wanna be jihadists. Are they all dopes or is it a slightly larger plan to test the waters? My logical side says they can't pull it off. My paranoid sides say watch your back.

I heard on the news that the investigation got started because one of them brought a dvd of jihad training material to be copied and the person saw it and called the cops. Real brain surgeons.

The 10 idiots in a wharehouse in FL. The person in IL that tried to trade car stereo speakers for hand grenades. Now these guys. All were arrested attempting to buy weapons from undercover FBI agents.

These guys certainly weren't too smart. Considering there is a 3 part and one drill hole difference between a full auto and semi auto AK doesn't go much to these guys intelligence. If they were training / researching / planning I don't see how they couldn't notice that.

I hope there aren't real cells in this country.
