Default Maintaining a Stainless Steel Pistol

I picked up a Ruger Mark lll Hunter in stainless. As this is my first firearm in stainless steel, any advice or tips for cleaning it or should I treat it as though it was blued?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

I can't think of anything different you need to do. just be sure you keep a film of protection on the surfaces. Prolonged exposure to water or other harmful stuff and it can rust.

Clean and maintain just the same as you would any other firearm. SS guns are not corrosion proof, just more corrosion resistant.

You can try 'Nevr Dull', usually available at hardware or auto stores. Another one is 'Miracle Cloth', Google for it. Both are pretty good at removing powder burns etc.

Birchwood Casey lead removing/polishing cloth is a great product also. One of the few things I have found that will remove the powder burn rings on a revolver cylinder without a tremendous amount of effort.

I have two S&W 5906's in stainless and a Beretta 92FS older full stainless model and they are harder to keep up with than a regular blued gun. In my defense I bought them used and the previous owners had let the rust start and now its an issue to keep under raps. All of these were virtually new so I expect they just left them in the original boxes and that was not good.

I have first hand experience with SS rusting. It isn't pretty. So treat it exactly the way you would any of your other firearms and enjoy.
