I pulled my gun today! With question..
No, its not as bad as it sounds.....I was out on my back patio cleaning something, when out of the corner of my eye I see this squirrel come through my breezeway. This critter is only 10 ft away and wobbleing side to side, it kept coming closer, I noticed that there was blood around its mouth and it was not acting right. I pulled my .380 aimed at the squirrel but judging my backstop and or riccochet it could be bad, so I stepped back and to the side making sure that my garage wall would "catch" the bullet. When I did this the squirrel turned and walked away. I followed it but I was now out front and the squirrel went into my neighbors yard and disapeared into his landscaping.
Something for sure was wrong with that critter maybe hit or possibly rabid.
I kept my son in the house for awhile and my neighbor wasn't home. We never saw the squirrel again today.
QUESTION:
What if I discharged my weapon, In my defense of course against this squirrel?

squirrels can't be beat, you will lose.Prepare for defeat and kiss your loved ones goodbye, you really started something you can't handle.
The squirrel on the right didn't say anything, it's the quite ones that mean buisness, be scared, very scared.

You must first make sure fleeing is not an option. And if it is not an option, I would draw my weapon and issue a verbal warning. I prefer something like...
"FREEZE SCUMBAG, desist or I will be forced to defend myself by means of deadly force!!!"
If the antagonist (squirrel) shows no signs of being deterred, AIM FOR CENTER AND START BLASTING TIL IT DROPS!

Get a very reputable alarm system. Squirrels are known to come into windows at night and slay their victims with horrible ferocity. The ones that do survive just keep moving from place to place, because once a squirrel wants your ass...he's gonna get it. Pack up soon.

Depending how rural you are I would say you would be fine... I polish off stray cats that wonder over from the barns... Mean little critters... I would say you would be justified... Good call on making sure of a back stop...

I remember reading a story once about a squirrel who killed a SEAL team in Iraq.I hear in Somalia they have pirate squirrels riding the seas just getting drunk and looting all day.

Nuke them from orbit. Its the only way to be sure. (Aliens is the best movie EVER!)
The squirrel probably saw that car insurance commercial on t.v., the one where they run out in the road and make the car crash.. except the car he ran out in front of was an uninsured motorist that didn't swerve.

in all honesty... no one would miss it.
If you neighbor is a card carrying member of SEKH (Squirrels for the Ethical Killing of Humans) they would undoubtedly report you to the game commission where you would charged with poaching.
Not sure where you live but there may be local ordnances concerning discharging firearms in the area as well. The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Only Obama is allowed to rule on the death of a squirrel and even then, the animal may not be tortured. It can only experience death in the name of anti-patriotism should it not pay it's taxes (assuming it has not taken a position in the Obama administration), if it is Christian, is a vet, is opposed to abortion, or is heard to speak the words, "Don't tread on me."

Just make sure to yell, "He's comin' right for us!" or, "We're thinnin' the herd!" and you should be fine.
