Re: gunsmith/machinist ?
If you find a buyer, I have an upgrade to go with it.
I have a 6"-9" Starrett.

You'll need to provide model numbers and a better set of pictures for anyone to even take a stab at pricing that set. They're probably worth more than new mics, but it's hard to say from what can be seen, and without more details.
Why do you want to sell them? Didn't you like grandpa? ;>)Kevin Singleton, Potawatomi - {ZRT - Sector 4}

Re: gunsmith/machinist ?
the value of the mics will depend greatly on the condition. Im sure he kept good care of them, but depending on how they were stored after him, how much wear is on them, and on thier intended use the price will vary. If it is for very precise measurments they may not be worth much. I am a machinest and I keep 2 compleate sets of mics in my box, one for rough work (say +or- .002 or more) and the other set for tighter tolerences (+or-.00025 or higher, lower I have to use gage blocks per work instruction).
Are the steel or carbide tipped, do they have rachets or friction rollers, actually come to think of it im pretty sure most starretts are friction.

Re: gunsmith/machinist ?
I'll have to get out to the garage to look into answers to all the questions.
I love Grandpa, but my garage is so full of stuff that I need to clear out some space. Besides, I have little to no use for precision measuring equipment, and I believe Grandpa would rather they were in someone's hands who would use and appreciate their working value. Does that make sense? It did to me, but may not to others.

I guess he thought they'd make good C clamps, after all.
Oh, well. I had $400 to bid on them.Kevin Singleton, Potawatomi - {ZRT - Sector 4}
