    Default Optic for MK II?

I was wondering if you good folks could recommend a good optic for the Ruger MK II (KMK 512). I want to ditch the iron sites and have a day / night sight. I'm not sure if I want a red dot or some kind of reflex. The reticle or dot should have good contrast in all lighting conditions if possible.

    Thanks.

I like to shop Optics Planet. Recommendations as a link to the optic there would be really nice.

No one gets optics for these?

I called optics planet due to the dovetail quandary. I wanted some technical assistance. No point in buying a dot / holo sight I can't mount.

Eotech stuff looks very nice. Pricey. But nice.

Bushnell is available. Not such a fan of them though.

Then I got turned on to a brand I trust that has a mount solution. Burris. So here is what I ordered:

Burris FastFire Red-Dot Reflex Sight ( 4 MOA Dot Reticle) 1 BR-RD-FastFire $198.99 Burris FastFire Models = 300233: Burris FastFire II w/ No Mount - Matte Finish 4 MOA Dot Reticle - WATERPROOF (+$10.00)

Burris FastFire Reflex Red-Dot Sight Mounting Plates 1 BR-IA-SDM $37.95 Models = 410329: Burris FastFire Sight Matte Black Mount Plate for Ruger Mark I, II, III (+$14.00)

I'll review it when I get a chance to try it out.

I have had different optics on my Mk.II for years. The Eotech is a great optic but too big for a .22 pistol.
I use an Utra-dot or a small Jpoint reflex sight (like the Fastfire). I have had the mount for so long that I do not remember who made it. There are a number of effective mounts avaliable (and some ineffective ones, too.)

Looks good. It will be interesting to see how far out I can extend point blank range. It would be nice to have shots fall into the dot from 50 to 100 meters. The dot is quite bright indeed.
