Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
I am looking at the stainless model with the fluted barrel and fiber optic sights.
Any pros or cons for this particular model?
Is it worth the price, as it is almost twice as much as the Mark lll 22/45?I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
Cleaning is confusing/difficult but only until you learn the process. Aside from that, I've had no problems to complain about.
This thread may help give some perspective/tips with cleaning should you decide to make the purchase.

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
I love my Mark III Hunter but hate the fiber optic sights. There was another thread about this not too long ago which I posted a reply to that has the standard sight part numbers for the front sight and the rear blade.
Disassembly and reassembly really aren't that bad. It takes a couple of runs through and you are good to go.
You won't be disappointed with the Mark III.

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
Zachomega, what do you dislike about the fiber optic sights?
I became partial to fiber optic sights, after I replaced the straight 8 sights on my PT145 with Williams firesights.
The fiber optic firesights made a world of difference.I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
Personally I have the 22/45 and I know first hand its 100 times better than the 22/45. Honestly though I would buy the Buckmark with the fluted barrel before I buy another Ruger just because ive never had a Browning and have been wanting one.
Reputation is what I strive for.

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
I just personally don't like them and the front sight seems to work its way loose from time to time. Teflon tape has helped with that as thread lock doesn't do much of anything.
Since you have experience with fiber optic sights and like them, you will find the gun more pleasant stock than I do.
Once again, it is a great gun!

Re: Opinions on Ruger Mark lll Hunter
I recently bought the stainless Hunter with the 6 7/8 inch barrel.
It had a MAJOR problem ejecting spent shells right out of the box. Gun was return to Ruger for a 12 week visit.
Upon its return it quickly became one of my favorite guns. It has fired 3000 rounds without a malfunction.
I think the fiber sites are great as long as you have plenty of overhead light. If you are gong through Hell, keep going.--Winston Churchill

Could resist no longer -- picked one up at John Brown's Armory.
Beautiful gun but a major PITA to reassemble for the first time after field stripping for initial cleaning after purchase.I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
