    Default Open Carry Motivation?

I understand the right of open carry etc, but what's the motivation for doing it? I CC and if I'm wearing a jacket for instance and it blows open in the wind, I absolutely don't freak out checking to see who saw my pistol. I have a right to defend myself and if some 8 year old makes a puddle at his feet or even asks me why I have a gun, I would give him the most honest and caring response explaining that there are bad people in the world etc etc. I can't say that I have a huge desire to OC though.

I guess I'm curious if OC is a political statement, matter of convenience and comfort, both, etc.

    What's the motivation?

It could be all of the above.

I OC because it make me look tougher and people usually leave tough people alone. Comfort is also on the list as well as making a statement. I like for people to know that I am exercising my 2A. I used to cc all the time and still will when I am in certain circumstances. My biggest reason to OC is to deter people though.

I OC because it is much more comfortable, being that my belly is a little bigger than I would like to have.

I don't wear it outside of my jacket when it's cold out, that would just look dumb, but when the weather is nicer, my OWB holsters are the only way I can carry comfortably.

Also, I hate the idea of having to hide my gun when I am legally licenced to carry it. I'm more comfortable with it being obvious that I'm wearing it, rather that it looking like I'm trying to hide something under my shirt. I'm to old to care what others think of me anyways. If they don't like it, they don't have to come near me.

It's fashionable. I ALWAYS plan my outfit to compliment my OC firearm

Hmmm, Because it makes you "LOOK TOUGHER"....? I'm not trying to start a war here, but that statement sounds a bit juvenile..You O/C to boost your ego? Maybe its just me, but if someone says that ..Thats the person I am least likey to trust.. You may escalate a minor situation, with an attitude like that.

Some guys probably do it owing it can be a chick magnet LOL!

Reasons I have seen for OC:
    - deters criminals and ner-do-wells such as aggressive panhandlers
-its 90 degrees out and it's more comfy to OC
    -it's a 2A right
-because it is legal, so why not do it?
    - CC feels like I am hiding something and makes me feel dirty
-to educate people as to their gun rights for when they ask upon noticing the OC
    -quicker draw than from concealment

some joke reasons I have seen:
    - it's a chick magnet, women think it's sexy
-I like getting free coffee at the 7/11
-cuz I want cops to harrass me so I can hit the lottery with my gun rights lawyer
-cuz my neighbor is an asshole and my OC might make him STFU
-I like to mess with mall ninjas
    -OMGZ teh zombies!11!!
    LOL, I am a woman...
