Default 9mm with a manual Safety?

The owner stopped by today and asked me which 9mm pistol I would recommend. I immediately said XD.

He wants a manual safety though.

I am not familiar with pistols that have a safety.

Can you all give me some ideas so I can research them and help him decide? I'd also like to get him to Fredom Armory to try a couple, but first I'd just like to get some more knowledge on the options.

Beretta 92FS or an HK USP are two 9mms with safeties that come to mind.

Another one for the Beretta 92fs.

Pretty much all Taurus pistols...can't think of any others off the top of my head.

FNH FNP9-USG, HK with lockout, some models of the S&W Mp`s and I think some of the Ruger model P`s have safeties and most Taurus.

Another vote for the Rugers. Specifically the Ruger P95. I own one, and have shot many. Great guns.

The only thing i dont like is the ambidextrious magazine release. My middle finger kept accidentally hitting it. Solved that by taking a dremel to the side of the mag release that was the problem. After shaving it down, its alot better now.

Some people whine about the weight of them too, but i CC mine everyday in a Fobus holster, and ever since the first day i CC'ed, i have barely noticed its weight.
