duracoat entire slide inside and out or just out?
im gonna duracoat my one xd partially pink for the lady , the blue on it is worn , i have a kel tec someone duracoated and did the inside and outside of the slide and it seems to still work well, but for the xd i am a lil nervous to do the inside where it slides on the rails and all that. i dont want any jams or nothing. should i just do the outside of the gun and thats it? i dont want it to chip off or anything from improper coverage. also i dont have a sandblaster or nothing , i suppose if i just scuff the old blue a bit with a brillo pad and degrease with carb cleaner it should stick well right?

Use blue remover !
Dont scuff it off, You must strip the blue. It is basically colored rust.

Duracoat is a fine finish but it has it's limitations.
Duracoat is an industrial urethane paint. (Sherwinn WIlliams Polane).
Duracoat is not resilient to high temps.
Duracoat is medium in thickness to get desired tint and protection.
Duracoat has no lubricative qualities.
Duracoat is moderate flexibility.
Duracoat is a paint and it adheres to itself stronger than the substrate.
I find duracoat a good choice for an economical finish on the outside of firearms.
Also great for scopes and synthetic stocks, etc that can not withstand heat curing required for other finishes.
I almost never use duracoat on handguns.
For a handgun I recommend a resin finish such as GunKote or Ceracoat.
It will require more prep and high temp cure but the finish will be far superior due to the qualities of these finishes:
Most resin finishes are self lubricating.
Thin enough for internals
More durable than duracoat.
Resins adhere to the substrate stronger than urathane hardened paints._________________________________________

Thanks Pa. Patriot! I just learned something new.
Your post was informative, concise, and answered the question with an alternative view/method to dealing with the subject matter.
Well done.

I'm going to take my XD apart and try to get some decent pics of the inside. I'll post them here in this thread.
Truthfully, since duracoating the slide is much easier to move. The only downfall of duracoating a light color is the dirt. One shot and the muzzle is filthy as you can see in these pics.
