Default Can you use your LTCF as a valid form of Photo ID?

I was filling out some forms for work that required my driver license number and forgot to put my license back into my wallet. Later that night, I went to a house party with my sister and her roommate. On the way there, I stopped off at the corner store to buy a 6-pack and I realized that I didn't have my license on me. When the clerk asked for my photo ID, I gave him my LCTF. He seriously spent a good minute looking at it, then asked me "what is this?" I told him it was a license to carry firearms and it has my photo and DOB on it. He then reluctantly sold me my 6-pack of Blue Moon and I went on my merry way.

For future reference, If I'm ever at a bank or liquor store and for some reason I don't have my license on me, is the LTCF a valid photo ID?

Sorry if this has been covered here before.

It is a Govenment issued picture ID, so I would say yes it is.
I have never heard any requirement except a Govenment issued picture ID.
That said I was refused purchace of a 12 pack in college, because the clerk wouldn't accept my passport for ID because "It isn't a state issued drivers license" LOL

Haha. On a related note, if you show your LTCF at a bank, do you think they may take it the wrong way and see the action as a "threat"? My girlfriend was convinced that could happen and that it's a bad idea to show your LCTF unless its to a LEO.

Q: Is my PA License to Carry Firearms considered a valid government issued identification?

A: Yes. Many places will accept Licenses to Carry Firearms as a second form of identification or even a primary form of identification. However, some people who still have the older style Licenses without a photo may have some problems. Even though it is still a valid form of identification, without a photo, some places may have a problem with accepting the License as an identification. If by chance you would present your License as a second form of photo identification and the person or place states that they cannot accept it, have them call our Office and we will verify that your License is indeed a valid form of identification.

I have on a few occasions. So far, not even an odd look. The only time I was ever asked for the driver's license (rather then the LTCF) was because the form being filled out required a driver's license number.

I used mine as a 2nd form of i.d. with my DL when i took a civil service test. Mine was issued without a photo but says "valid without photo"

I once used my DD form 2 and my LTCF just to see If I could get a rise out of the asking party. I got a confused look then it was accepted.
