Re: Can you use your LTCF as a valid form of Photo ID?
I use my LTCF exclusively when asked for 'gov ID'. I won't give 'em a driver's license. It breaks the routine of having the DL act as a defacto national ID card. A DL is for "motor vehicle" purposes ONLY. There is no paper trail when using the LTCF, as the local county Sheriff holds the data base. Also sends a nice subliminal message to the inquiring party.
I have had a problem once when tendering the LTCF at a Citizen"s Bank, when trying to cash a check. Teller had a bad attitude, when she saw the LTCF said "OH, I know what that is, my husband has one. And I don't have to accept it, as it's not on the bank's list of acceptable ID." This was in the Kingston (W-B) branch. Next time I'll bring a witness.
In most cases, the other bank tellers I have given it to have reacted favorably to the LTCF.

Re: Can you use your LTCF as a valid form of Photo ID?
Okay, so if you were a customer service rep, handling bill payments, and someone came in with the paper statement and wanted to pay cash toward the bill, you'd want ID? I mean, I could understand if they wanted to use the statement (and account number) to make a purchase..........Or maybe you're suggesting they were trying to protect my wife from identity theft. Which is a moot point since I'd have enough info already, and chances are I wouldn't be paying a victim's bill for them. I'd assume by your remark that never in your life has a family member asked "Hey, on your way to XYZ, would you mind dropping off this payment for me?"
Nah, probably just me.

I don't think that's what he meant.

Walmart wouldnt accept mine to cash a check.
I love the double takes I get from some gas station clerks when I buy smokes, hand them that as ID, and they try and swipe it.

Re: Can you use your LTCF as a valid form of Photo ID?
I use it as my primary ID when I'm in NYC. The really fun times was when I used a check to pay for something in NYC. The store requested a DL/Picture ID and I told them I didn't have one. It was kind of to see written on my check "ID gun license #".
I also don't sign the back of my credit cards, so they always ask for ID. I'll give you one guess what ID I use.
Of course there were a few "comments". But that's for another thread.
