Public Range near Elverson (Rt 345) - Busy?
Does anyone know how busy this range gets on Sunday afternoons? Is it better to show up right at Noon, or wait until later in the day?
Thanks.

Thanks. Yes, 43 is it. Hmmm. I was planning on shooting a new snubbie. Do they do this all the time, or just sometimes? Is there any time you can work with shorter ranges there? I'd like 25 yds, at most. I'd really like to go as short as 7 yds for some of the time. Or do I have to find a club to do this, or a friend's farmland?

That place is a freakin madhouse most weekends. Don't waste your time there. Better to find a nice club and spend the money on a membership.

BTW - I ended up joining at Northern Chester County Sportsmen's Club (NCCSC). It's just a few minutes up the road from that public range. Since originally posting this, I read too many accounts of idiots showing up at public ranges. Bad "etiquette" at a public golf course is one thing, but at a gun range, it's life and death. No thanks.
The fact that they took away the pistol range was a deal-breaker for me anyway.
I love going to NCCSC.Tommy610, NRA Member, Romans 12:18

I would avoid that range on the weekend. I've been there only once on a weekend and saw some of the worst muzzle discipline and cross lane shooting ever. I haven't been back since.
Join a gun club. You'll be happier.Μολὼν λάβε

Re: Public Range near Elverson (Rt 345) - Busy?
It can be very busy there...
It's a shame... I used to go there a lot when I was younger. I have seen some morons up there! I was up there once and saw some punk kid twirling his pistol as if he were in an old western movie! Several of us yelled at him and his group several times that day.
Did anyone ever hear why they took away the pistol ranges? Now, we have a mess of nimrods who try to shoot their pistols at 100 yards! Furthermore, they took away the skeet shooting area. Any word on why and if it's coming back?
