Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
I sent a 1911 through Fedex back to Springfield Armory for work. They sent it straight back to my house.
It cost me like $80 to ship it though. That was for overnight or next day shipping and for like $1400 insurance.
Might be cheaper to have an FFL ship it though, not sure.

Original box?
I don't use Fed-Ex, but:
Upon presenting the goods for shipment, the person tendering the shipment to Carrier is required to notify Carrier that the shipment contains a firearm. The outside of the package(s) must not be marked, labeled or otherwise identify that the package(s) contains a firearm.

Re: Shipping Answers (to questions that are often asked)
I believe they don't want any gun markings because of theft by employees of the shipping company.
As much of a pain as it is, I would over cover the box with another box.
If you use paper, you should also address the box underneath in case the paper gets shredded off.
Personally, I try not to use paper, and if I have to, I cover the entire package with shipping tape.
What are they going to do, refinish the gun?
If so they'll ship it back in a regular box made for it I'd assume.
Any time I have sent a gun to the manufacturer, it came back in a factory type box even if I sent it to them loose in a normal shipping box.
I have never sent anything to Mossberg though IIRC.
