.45 ball ammo velocity
Anyone know the velocity of generic ball ammo, and a good hardcast lead load to replicate it? Thanks.

Re: .45 ball ammo velocity
Winchester's load book says that 5.1 GR of 231, combined with a 230 GR LRN bullet will do 870fps. My personal load, I use 5.0 GR 231 with a 200 GR LSWC bullet, Speer rates this at 803fps.

Re: .45 ball ammo velocity
I cast all my 45ACP with a Lyman 230 Gr., RN it’s a nice bullet, but if you do not cast, My brother got some Berry plated bullets. And I loaded them up for him, they are. a decent bullet. And Berrys has free shipping on orders over $50.00 they cost about what you will pay for cast.
