Thanks for posting thatToday, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.JFK

Re: Cabelas Gun Policy PRINT THIS OUT!!!
Was everyone so happy that they missed this little gem?
...
With respect to the issue of open-carry and concealed-carry of firearms by customers – it is Cabela’s general policy to allow customers to carry a pistol or revolver within Cabela’s stores if the customer is permitted to do so in accordance with applicable law; provided such firearm remains safely holstered while the customer is on Cabela’s property, and the activities of the customer do not raise safety concerns or otherwise interfere with Cabela’s business activities.
...
"Sir, you're scaring the customers..."
Really though, that line was intentionally put in there to allow them to ask you to leave if they wish.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Cabelas Gun Policy PRINT THIS OUT!!!
if thats the way the meant it or not, I figure they had to address this potential situation.
I saw it and chalked it up to it being a corporate letter. When I worked EMS for the NYS Parks Department we couldn't even call the Police for some things unless a civi complained, for example, some dude planted himself outside of the ladies bathroom at the beach and took pictures of everyone that walked out of there from behind, well not the old ladies, but the little girls, and up through the middle age. I called in to HQ and they refused to get me an officer to ask the guy to push off without me grabbing one of the patrons, telling them what he was doing and having them call it in. I went and stared at him until he got uncomfortable and went to go sleze around somewhere off my post...while I could see how Cabela's migh abuse this clause, I tend to think that for the majority of situations they won't, and unlike with govt. policy this is private property, we just have to deal. We are lucky in some sense that we got this much cooperation out of them. I think this one goes in the win column. How pissed are you gonna be if you die before the Zombie Apocalypse comes? - - IANAL

Re: Cabelas Gun Policy PRINT THIS OUT!!!
If you are affraid of guns, why would you be in a store that sells them, and who in their right mind would go out of their way to complain about them there?
How about this, by complaining about me they have disrupted my shopping experiance and I would like to have them removed form the store as well. They obviously don't hunt or use guns for personal protecting so I don't think they can even be considered a customer...what could they possibly be buying, those nifty baked peanuts? How pissed are you gonna be if you die before the Zombie Apocalypse comes? - - IANAL

Re: Cabelas Gun Policy PRINT THIS OUT!!!
Didn't mean to start a debate. Just pointing out that it's worded to allow them to say one thing and do the other if they choose to do so.
Getting a policy in writing, period, is impressive in itself, so thanks for posting it.Last edited by Emptymag; April 18th, 2009 at 08:04 AM. Reason: typo
