Re: looking for training classes on pistols
Not sure about Clarion, but if your up for a drive Erie has a good place for training. Bob's Gun Shop offers several classes. I know one of them is a defensive handgun use. If you want more, they also have the act 235 training. The act 235 training is held at their leathal weapons training academy. http://www.lethalweaponstraining.com/pa-act-235.html

Re: looking for training classes on pistols
Clarion is kind of in the middle but not really near anything. If you can drive comfortably to Pittsburgh, you have:

...which has all the classes you need to get squared away (in fact, I believe they have exactly what you asked for, a home defense type class). Contact PAFOA members TonyF or (IIRC) PeteG for details.
About the same distance away is the range in Hollidaysburg:

...which is a fine facility and has brought in training groups.
John Farnam (well known excellent trainer) makes it out to the general west PA region:

There really isn't anything of the type in this area. You'll have to go to Pittsburgh or Erie areas for something like that.

+1 on Mr. Farnam's classes. He's a knowledgeable firearm instructor who takes his tradecraft seriously. I took his Basic/Intermediate Pistol class, and am looking forward to taking the Advanced class when it swings through the area. IMHO, his class was well worth the money.
