Okay I'm setting up for reloading soon and I'm studying everything i could get. That along with info from here is letting me "chart" some "recipes" for my two M&P's. One is a 9mm compact and the other a full size 45. My question is this. Who has a good "recipe" for a IDPA load for the 45 and a Persoanl defense load for the 9mm compact. Whe the chart is finished i will upload it in case others want to try it out for themselves.

The loads that work best for me may not work best for you.

Buy a manual, The Lyman, Speer and Hornady manuals are good ones. Find your bullet type and weight, pick a powder or 2, start at 15% below max and experiment. Fine tuning your loads for optimum accuracy is part of the fun of reloading.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm slowly stocking some brass and bullets - I can't afford to go whole hog all at once. I did pick up Lyman's "Handloading for Pistols and Revolvers" that goes through the whole process and has most popular pistol loads in the back. I think it was $18 or something, and includes recipes for lead if you want to cast your own, as well as that whole process as well.

The equipment purchase is a factor, because you could spend major moolah, and still not be satisfied.

Exactly, every gun will like a different "recipe" as you put it.

Best to read the sticky first, and save the charting for real data you get from load workup at the range!
