Default Bullet-Proofing the Mind - A MUST for every concealed-carrier

I mentioned Lt. Col Dave Grossman's site killology.com in the The rash of shootings in recent weeks... in reference to the mind set of some of these people that have lost it over the past few weeks.

BUT when I was wandering around his site today I found a great article by him called Bullet-Proofing the Mind - A MUST for every concealed-carrier. Hadn't seen it before but damn is it a great read!

It also covers some of what I was saying in that other thread about first person shooter games and PTSD and desensitization of kids by them.

Take the time to read it, then pass it along to anyone you know that carries:

I ordered "On Killing" a month or so ago and haven't started reading it yet.

When I took my first tactical pistol class, the Gunsite instructor who came to the Pittsburgh area to teach us recommended that book. That was almost 10 years ago,a handful of classes later and I just got it. Now to make time to read it.

Good read dc. Thanks for posting.

I'm not permitted to carry a gun at work. Company policy and job policy dictate a "no firearms zone" so I hope they protect me every day I'm there.

    Just hoping they will.

A really good read. I like the part about plan a and plan b. Britian versus Israel.

Very good read and rep sent!

The points brought up in that article are points I push very hard on new people I introduce to armed self-defense.

Especially the fact that real self-defense IS NOT HOLLYWOOD!

"On Combat: The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and Peace" is also a very good read by the Col.

I think that one of the key things to take out the books is the importance of building muscle memory through constant drilling.

Good post DC, always seem to find the good ones.

Bringing this one back from the grave. I got an email from Buckeye Firearms Association. There is an all day workshop with Col. Grossman on Saturday Sept. 11. It is in Strongsville, OH, but I thought some might be interested since it is a weekend. More information can be found at http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/Dave-Grossman.
