My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
@ The next gun show we go to (I'll give him the cash). He needs to get himself a pistol, and I need to be his shield, and sword when we're getting it so I'm interested to know what are the basic things in all hand guns I should make sure to look for mechanical wise, and what are the best selling hand guns for the $$$ at the shows?

Re: My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
What is it going to be used for?
Any idea what caliber?
What's his price range?
I'm concerned about the "needs" part of this title. Is he in danger?

Depending on his level of experience with a handgun, keep it simple. A revolver (point 'n bang) may be his best choice.

Re: My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
Honestly go pick up a few handgun magazines. Best resource for learning lol. But the typical fathers gun, IMO is a Model 29 .44 Magnum

Why a gun show? You will get much better service, more questions answered and a much more personal experince at a gun dealer.
Judging from the shows I have been at lately, you will likely pay less at a local dealer too.Guns are good.

Re: My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
That's an interesting comment (I added the bold and italics).
Why does he need a gun...and what do you mean ""shield and sword"?
If he cannot buy one for a legal reason (felony or?) and your shield/sword part is to be a straw purchaser, I suggest you reconsider this. That would be a felony on your part (and his).
If this is all above board...go to a gun shop.

Re: My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
+1 on going to a dealer rather than a show. You get good advice before the sale as well as follow-up advice and service after the sale. Don't get me wrong, A lot of reputable dealers sell at gun shows, but will you be able to take advantage of a 3 day return policy as easily as a local shop?
I don't know where in Lebanon county you are, but I'll suggest that you check out these 3, In no particular order;
1). Richland Shooter's Supply, Richland
2). Encks Gun Barn, Newmanstown
3). Shyda's Gun Shop, Lebanon.
And you might also want to call Glenn's Guns in Annville, he's still open for business, but with limited hours.
I see that you are under 21, are you really looking for one for yourself?
Be careful to stay legal.

Re: My Dad Needs To Buy A Pistol
Depending on the intended purpose Eagle arms near lebanon? had polish p-64s at the last show for $150 I will vouch for the guy he is a reputable dealer. The recoil of the p-64 is heavy (9mm mak) but the gun is really high quality and the price can't be beat. It has to be the best dollar for doughnuts deal out there right now.
