I just got my Choate Mossberg SHORT forend directly from Choate.

It is for the 6 1/2" action tubes and does not overlap the receiver. Looks like the one on the 500 SPX as far as how much of the action tube rails it leaves exposed (not the correct term I am sure).

    Part number 02-02-06

I am not sure if the 02-02-26 is the same design just with picatinny rails or not.

@falcn: Thank you for the link. I have been looking for a forend with picatinny rails. All I could find was the Mako through cheaper than dirt, and it is too long for the 6 1/2" slide on my Mossy 500. The one I found through your link should work, thank you! +rep sent.

Thanks, I was looking and looking for a while and even told Choate to update their descriptions since it was unclear it the short would fit 6 1/2" inch action tubes with the stock nut. I see they still have not updated it even though a VP E-mailed me back and said they would add the information. Ah well. Everyone just know that this forend will fit with the stock nut on the 6 1/2" action tube.

I figured I would share my findings as I wouldn't be the only one interested in aftermarket forends for the 6 1/2" action tubes.

Been using this for a little bit of time and have to say my initial impressions are great. My hands don't slip on the forend. I can cycle fast enough to get 2 shots on the clays if needed. i am just in love with this shotgun now.
