I just hit Latrobe looking for personal defense ammo in 45, and they had about 6-8 boxes of the CCI 22 ammo for $7.47 perbox.

I stopped in at Hometown and didn't see any .22 but everything else is well stocked. I remembered I wanted to pick up a sling so I stopped back and overheard a manager asking how much .22 was left. I went over to the register and asked if they had any. The gentleman pointed to a flyer on the counter and I said I'll take 3. As of right now hometown has standard velocity CCI .22lr 40gr for $7.47 per 100. It was all kept out of sight under the counter so it might not hurt to ask.

Blairsville, like Latrobe and Mt. Pleasant has about 4500 rounds in stock, limit 3 boxes if 100. They have it advertised in a current sale flyer as a "hunting event" sale. Just left Blairsville. I didn't buy any there or at Latrobe.

    $7.47 for CCI std vel.

I can't see how that is high for 100rnds, $3.73 per 50 of ammo that shoots like match in most guns.
    Its not thunderbolt or wildcat.
I'd buy some if I were in the area, my winchester 75 and rem 12 love that stuff over high vel.

A little over $2 for a box of 50, under $25 for a brick of 500-550, that's what I've been paying. I'm stocked up so I can wait till I find it available at that price then buy the 3 box max. I refuse to pay more than 5-6 cents a round if I don't have to

CCI std vel for a bit over $2 a box?

I'm not talking about thunderbolt of the other bulk stuff like the Winchester white box stuff, you are saying you are getting CCI std vel like Walmart has/had for under $25 a brick?

That's pre 5 years ago pricing.

I am paying $20-25 for bulk packs of plinking ammo, CCI Std Vel is not really plinking ammo to many.

    ^^^this^^^

I shoot a lot of standard velocity and haven't seen it at $20 for quite a while. The last I bought was at LGS for @ $35 for a brick.

Unfortunately I think the days of 5-6 cent a round .22 are long behind us even when the panic slows down and they become more available. Seeing what people seem to be willing pay at gun shows (12-14 cents a round) I don't think you'll ever see it much below 8 cents again IMHO.
