OK - I just called my Wal-Mart Dickson City and...

    THEY HAVE 20boxes OF 9mm WWB for $19.97 with a 2-box-per-customer limt!!!!

They Also have 6 boxes of 50rnd UMC .45acp for $19 and 4 boxes of 250rnd UMC .45acp for $82!

They're OUT of .40S&W...but WWB retails for $28.97

They're out of .357sig and he doesn't know if it's coming back in.

'Mike' at the counter also said he has .45 Long Colt....but I didn't ask how much or for what price.

Thumbs up Robinson: Walmart Ammo Thread

was at Robinson Town Center Walmart near pgh airport this am...

    • they had at least 3 - 100 round value packs of 38 special whitebox (I think around $30)
    • they had tons of 9mm (they had federal, Blazer (Around $8.97), Whitebox (around $9.97) (50 rds) and they had white box 100 round value boxes (the ones where ammo is lose packed inbox (I think $20+)
    • they had tons of 40 S&W in Blazer ($12.97) and Whitebox ($??).
    • they had ONE box of 45 whitebox ($??)
    • they had a few whiteboxes of 357 sig ($??)
    • one or two boxes of .223 remington (20 rd) expensive green/yellow boxes ($??)

Note that most of the time it cheaper for the 50 rd Blazer or Federal boxes then getting the 100 round whitebox value boxes

Please chime in if you've made the same observations from what folks have posted in this thread.........Wal-Mart ammo prices are NOT consistant from store to store. You agree?

I mean, my Dickson City WM sells 100rnd WWB .45acp for $29 and some change. Is that typical for .40S&W to be priced higher?

I can see wild price variations between the local shops......but I'd expect a litlle more consistancy from WM.

(or do I just need another cup of coffee to clear my hallucinogenic thinking?)

    .
I can't speak for Wally World, but many stores use demographic data to set prices for their merchandise.

When I worked for K-Mart the same item might have a price variation of 25% or more between two stores-one in a very low income area, and one three miles away in a fairly well-off neighbourhood.

slight OT but went to Dunham's Sporting goods in Bridgeville, PA. the plaza down from where the shooting took place.

anyway they had 2 or 3 boxes of 38 special in the value boxes white box, they had 9mm blazer brass, they had 40 S&W, and a few boxes of 44 mag and 45 auto.

they also had wolf .223 at $9 per box steel
they had 200 round value 5.56 at $100 per box (American Eagle Tact) like this - Link to same stuff at Cabela's
they had surplus ak ammo (but not sure the details as I don't have an AK).

Anyone know if any WalMarts in the Pittsburgh Region has these Fed Value 223 packs (for $39.95) for 100 rounds ? I have yet to see this in any of the stores in pgh I have stopped in. Just see the expensive Green/Yellow Remmington 20 round boxes.

thanks for any tips on where to get.

Yeah just a note that you need to check. I like Fed or BB better the Whitebox anyway. so I prefer to get 2 boxes of Fed over 1 value pack and its cheaper (at least in 9mm).

Yesterday (8-5-09) I picked up 6 boxes of 9mm at Wal Mart in Exton, PA. They had both Winchester and Reminton 9mm. $10.50 plus tax for a box of 50. They seemed to have plenty. No limit as to the number of boxes you can buy.

Finally, there seems to be a good supply of 9 mm.

They do not have .380 and the salesman said he hasn't seen any .380 shells for months.

I am not going to buy a .380 handgun until the supply and price settle out. I might have to learn how shoot a .38 special revolver.

Someone explained to me the problem with 380. It is the lowest selling handgun round made and they usually only retool and manufacture it once a year. Since they are so far behind on the other rounds they decided to not retool for it until they catch up on the other stuff. Don't know how true or accurate it is but that's what I heard.
