Transporting Firearm
New to site & first post.
What is the law regarding transporting a gun to a range or to hunt. I ,as of now do not have my carry permit, but after reading the carry laws I am not sure. I was always taugh, and did, keep gun in trunk unloaded w/ other gear and kept amuntion up front /seperate bag.
What is the story?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Transporting Firearm
Your method of carry is correct. Just keep in mind that your trip needs to be directly to and directly back, with no stops in between.
Oh and....welcome to the forum!!

Re: Transporting Firearm
this is true only for handguns, though.
for long-guns, they do need to be unloaded (meaning basically gun and ammo in separate containers) even if you have an LTCF, but you can drive around with an unloaded long-gun in your car to your heart's content in PA even without an LTCF.F*S=k

one more useful link in addition to headcase's:
http://reference.pafoa.org/statutes/...than-firearms/
(this is the section that deals with carrying long-guns...which do not fit the UFA definition of firearms...in a vehicle.)F*S=k
