New York State lawmakers have agreed to temporarily raise income taxes on the state's highest earners in order to narrow the state's budget deficit, a spokesman for the Assembly speaker said on Sunday.
Temporarily? What's the Truth-O-Meter reading on that one?
Politicians who fear the people seek to disarm them.

People who fear their government's intentions refuse to be disarmed.

I though America was all about making a better life for yourself and your family? Apparently it's frowned upon amongst liberals...we have to 'level' the playing field so people who are less fortunate can continue to sit on their ass and collect a government check and not pay federal taxes..

    BS!

I'm poor and I have not 1 problem with folks who better their lives financially in America as long as it's the legal way..

It makes sense to tax the rich. After all, we don't want private investors buying stock and funding capitalism. If the government takes that money the businesses will have to go to the government for money like they do in those highly successful socialist nations. Besides, we all know that our government is better at business and budgets that private companies. Take the U.S. Postal Services, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Social Security for example. Super Success and a model for what private companies wish they could be.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

The last 'temporary' 'emergency' tax placed on liquor in PA (18%) has been there since 1968...

I always rolled my eyes at temporary taxes..

We're still paying the temporary ones on our phone bills from WW2..

However it's a double edge sword, Spend more money and create huge deficits, or Spend more money and raise taxes thus keeping us from having a deficit..

    Screwed either way really..

I wonder if that bill has a sunset provision (expiration date) like the original AWB and the Bush Tax Cuts which are due to expire soon.

If so, then it may very well actually be temporary. If not, I wouldn't hold me breath on them ever being rolled back either.

If only the increased taxation didn't come with out of control spending that tripples the deficit I MIGHT be more willing to accept a temporary tax.

Bingo ....problem, pretty soon there will be no legal way except accepting a Government check and being told what you can do.

Since only 40,000 out of 8 million people in NYC pay the majority of the taxes there, wouldn't surprise me to see a ban on the 40,000 from moving. I'm just sayin.....
