short action versus long action
Does anyone out there knows the diffrence between a short and long action because I would like to convert a Remington 700 30-06 to a 308 and dont know if this is possible

The difference is that a short action receiver is shorter than a long action receiver.
No need lugging around extra metal and manipuling a bolt throw longer than the cartridge length than necessary.
That said...
You CAN convert a long action Rem700 in 30-06 to a 308 by simply swapping barrels Been there done that... PM me for more info_________________________________________
